Members of the Regional Center of Competence managing board had an expert visit to Frankfurt am Mein, Germany in the period from March 8th until March 11th 2022. Best Western Premier IB Hotel, functioning as a hotel-school for catering and tourism professions as well, was visited upon arrival.

On the second day, managing board members met representatives from Frankfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce Education Department, The Hotel and Restaurant Association Hessen (DEHOGA) and Gekko Group representatives. Principles of vocational education in Germany were presented, its weak and strong points with emphasis on vocational education models, information on student motivation and practical classes.
Later in the day Innside hotel was visited where the hotel representatives stressed the importance of timely and quality information of children and youth in the process of choosing tourism and catering professions. Importance of providing real picture situation in the sector is of great importance. Mainz Vocational School (Verufsbildende Schule 1) was visited on Thursday, March 10th 2022 where experimental self organized learning environment – SOLE was presented. Visit to hotel Atrium in Mainz followed next where student practice system and hotel managing with a special emphasis on congress tourism was presented. Higly outlined was the flexibility of German vocational education, procedural simplicity of curriculum reform implementation, ultimately resulting in better synchrony of educational programs and labor market.

Meeting with Croatian City Council representative presenting German-Croatian cooperation in Frankfurt marked the end of the expert visit.
