School competition – Pastry making
Three students from Catering school Opatija competed in a school competition in pastry making category held on February, 7th 2022.
The assigned pastry was a sweet roll which had to contain biscuit, cream, glaze and decoration. The students had a 90 minute window to prepare their rolls. The judging criteria included: proper use of tools, work area cleanliness, pastry complexity, level of difficulty, taste and the final presentation. Out of 60 points total, the students were awarded: 1st place – 57 points; 2nd place – 54 points and 3rd place – 52 points. Board of judges were culinary art teachers and a teacher of pastry making.
